The brand sets the margin for the whole quote
Not just the storage line — panels, mounting, labour and certification all
move with it, on this page and on Ryan’s.
Always applied to storage, array,
mounting, electrical and extras — except scaffolding, which is at cost. The two
fees below are optional — untick one to pass it through at cost.
Ryan’s commission is never marked up —
it is a deduction from what we keep, not a cost to sell on.
Prices are exact to the penny —
nothing is rounded. Rounding moved money nobody had decided on: a panel at
£99.31 quoted at £100 is £8.28 added across twelve of them.

Essentials — on every job
Kurt, 22 Aug 2026: these go on every
project without asking. Bird protection sits here with the AC isolator, not in the
project-dependent list.
Depends on the project
Decided at survey, by the house and the
roof — not by the customer. Leave at zero when it does not apply.
Measured at survey
Nothing in the catalogue says how much cable a job needs — it depends on the run
from roof to inverter. It starts at zero: put the measured length in.
Scaffolding
One side is included on every job
— we carry it out of margin and the customer pays nothing for it. Sides
beyond the first are charged at cost, with no margin. Put 0 if the job needs no
scaffolding.

Optional extras — the customer chooses
Not driven by the house. These are
upsells the customer either wants or does not. Every priced line comes from
Midsummer, not the OpenSolar sheet.
EV charger upsell
Priced on its own rules, not the solar
rate card. No brand margin, a flat fitting charge, and it is the one part of the
quote the customer pays VAT on.
Tethered or untethered?Tethered means the charging cable is permanently attached to the unit —
unhook it, plug in, done. Fastest day to day, but the cable length and the
connector are fixed for the life of the unit. Untethered (also sold as
“socketed”) is a socket on the wall and the driver plugs in their own
cable — tidier when it is not in use and it suits any car and any cable
length, but the cable lives in the boot. Untethered is the cheaper unit; tethered
is the easier sell.
Travel & accommodation
A flat £300, not marked up
One figure covering hotel and diesel on a long job. It is cost recovery, so it
is added to the price at cost and left out of the margin and the rounding —
the customer pays exactly the £300.
Labour & certification
Ryan’s commission
Charged on the project total, ex-VAT —
the customer price after margin and rounding, before VAT is added. Varies by project.
This is a direct cost, not a share of profit
Ryan’s fee comes off in full before profit is worked out, and it is the one thing the
markup is not applied to. The customer pays the same either way; the whole of
it comes out of what we keep.
Sold above the rate card
How the uplift works
The rate-card price above is the base. If the closer sells for more than that, the
extra is split — 20% to them, 80% to us — on top of their
commission on the base. Nothing about the job changes, so the whole uplift is profit
apart from their share of it. This is the same model Ryan sees on his own page.
Cost per acquisition
What it costs in advertising to win one
job. A working average — change it here as the real number moves.
Anything given away to close the job.
Comes off what we keep, the same as the advertising — the quoted price
above does not move.
Comes off the profit, and is funded up front
It is a cost of winning the sale, so it is deducted like Ryan’s commission
rather than treated as overhead — and it appears in the cash-flow panel
too, because it is paid long before the customer does.
Finance
0% APR to the customer, a subsidy to us
The customer pays the quoted price and nothing more. The lender advances that
figure less the subsidy, so the whole of it comes off what we keep —
the same way Ryan’s commission does.

OpenSolar — what the closer types in
One figure, entered once
Nobody itemises isolators, cable, mounting, labour or scaffolding on a customer
proposal, and hand-entering a dozen small lines is where mistakes get made.
OpenSolar takes a single manual cost line, so that is all the closer enters and
the proposal is built around it. The breakdown above is for us, not for the
proposal — the total is the same either way.
Net is the discounted price, not the list price
YESSS quote a list price and a discount per line. The Net £ column is the
quotation’s Amount — list less that discount, before VAT — so it is what we
actually pay, and it is the cost every margin on this tab is worked from. The
struck-through figure is the list price it came down from, shown for context only.
These prices sit on one quotation
Quotation 053QO61633 (ref. NWR STOCK) is dated 13 August 2026. The discounts were agreed for that quote,
so this is not a standing price list — re-check with YESSS before pricing a job on
them. Nothing on this tab feeds the Calculator; it is a reference list.
Hanchu Contractor Price List
72 products, as at 19 August 2026 — contractor price, ex-VAT
“Contractor Price” is what we pay
Hanchu’s sheet has one money column and it is headed Contractor Price — a buying
price, so it is the cost every margin on this tab is worked from. There is no list price
and no discount, so nothing here is struck through: the number is the number. The file
arrived named hanchu- customer.xlsx; that name is misleading and the column
heading is what counts.
Ex-VAT is inferred, not stated
Midsummer and YESSS both say ex-VAT on their face. This sheet says nothing about VAT
anywhere — no column, no code, no footer — and every figure is consistent with
an ex-VAT trade price, so that is how it is shown. Worth confirming with Hanchu before it
prices a live job.
Tick to offer it in the Calculator
Nothing on this tab reaches the Calculator until it is ticked. Ticks are shared with
everyone who has access — see the line under the table.
Anker Prices
5 products, as at 9 September 2026 — trade price, ex-VAT
A stated price list, nothing derived
These are the figures on the Anker basket, ex-VAT, and they are what every Anker
quote on the Calculator is worked from. There is no list price and no discount, so
nothing here is struck through: the number is the number. The margin box above is for
reading the list — the Calculator keeps its own rate, on the Margin card.
The item codes are ours, not Anker’s
The basket showed no part numbers. Tick boxes are keyed on the code, so these were
minted here rather than left blank — they are stable and safe to work from, but do
not quote one to a supplier. Swapping one in for Anker’s own re-keys its tick box.
One mounting bracket per system
Put an Anker battery on a quote and the Calculator adds 1 × Anker Wall Mounting
Bracket to it automatically — once, whatever the battery quantity. Two or three
packs still take one floor mount. It shows as its own line on the bill of materials and
on Ryan’s page rather than being folded into the battery price, so it can be seen.
Midsummer Catalogue
3,231 products, trade prices as at 15 August 2026 — net, ex-VAT
This margin is separate from the Calculator
It is a margin on the sale, not a markup on cost — 35% means 35% of the price
is yours, so the price is cost ÷ 0.65. Change it here to see the list you would type
into OpenSolar; the Calculator keeps its own margin and rounding.
